Grammar Notes & Usage Tips

Use the particle を before 踏む to show what you're stepping on — for example, 靴を踏む means "to step on a shoe."
Be careful not to confuse 踏む with 歩く (to walk); 踏む is used when you step on something, often by accident or with pressure.
When talking about accidentally stepping on someone or something, it's polite to say ごめんなさい or すみません afterward!
