•Use 休む with the particle を when saying you are taking a break from something—like 学校を休みます (I’m taking a day off from school).
•To say a person is resting or taking time off, just use 休みます after the subject with が or は—like 田中さんは休みます (Tanaka-san is taking time off).
•Don’t confuse 休み (noun: rest/break) with 休む (verb: to rest)—for example, 昼休み is “lunch break,” but 昼休みに休みます means “I rest during lunch break.”
