Grammar Notes & Usage Tips
•Use ~がる to describe how someone else seems to feel (like 怖がる = "seems scared" or "acts scared"), but don’t use it to talk about your own feelings.
•Attach ~がる to the stem of a feeling adjective (like 寒い → 寒がる) to show someone appears to feel that way.
•Don't forget to use the particle を when you describe what someone desires with ~たがる (e.g., アイスクリームを食べたがっている = "They want to eat ice cream").
