Grammar Notes & Usage Tips

決まる is an intransitive verb, so the thing that gets decided is marked with が (e.g., 試合の日が決まりました = The date of the match has been set).
Don’t use を after the thing being decided — that’s for the transitive version 決める (e.g., 日にちを決めました = I decided the date).
You can use に to show what something was decided as (e.g., リーダーは田中さんに決まりました = Tanaka-san was chosen as the leader).
