Grammar Notes & Usage Tips
•Use を with 間違える to show what you got wrong—for example,「漢字を間違えました」means “I made a mistake with the kanji.”
•Be careful not to say 間違いしました—that’s incorrect; the right verb is 間違える, so say 間違えました for “made a mistake.”
•You can also say 人の名前を間違えた to mean “I got someone’s name wrong”—just add the thing you messed up before を.
