Grammar Notes & Usage Tips
•見つかる is used when something is found by itself or by someone — the thing that is found usually comes before the particle が (e.g., 財布が見つかりました = The wallet was found).
•Don’t use 見つかる with を — if you’re the one actively finding something, use 見つける instead (e.g., 私が鍵を見つけた = I found the keys).
•Use に to show where something was found (e.g., 公園に犬が見つかった = The dog was found in the park).
