Grammar Notes & Usage Tips

過ぎる often follows the ます-stem of a verb or an adjective to mean “too much” — for example, 食べすぎる means “to eat too much.”
When talking about time, use を with 過ぎる — like 10時を過ぎました (It’s past 10 o’clock).
Don’t confuse 過ぎる with すぐ (soon); they sound similar but mean very different things!
