•Use を after the thing you're asking about: 先生に道を尋ねました (I asked the teacher about the way).
•Use に after the person you're asking: 店員さんに値段を尋ねました (I asked the store clerk about the price).
•Don’t confuse 尋ねる (to ask/inquire) with 訪ねる (also read as たずねる, but means "to visit").
