Formation:い-adj: drop い + くない | な-adj + じゃない

Plain Negative Adjectives

い-Adjectives

Drop い, add くない:

Plain Plain Negative
高(たか)い 高(たか)くない
面白(おもしろ)い 面白(おもしろ)くない
おいしい おいしくない
寒(さむ)い 寒(さむ)くない

いい becomes よくない.

な-Adjectives

Add じゃない after the adjective stem:

好(す)きだ 好(す)きじゃない
静(しず)かだ 静(しず)かじゃない
元気(げんき)だ 元気(げんき)じゃない
