It was ~ (polite past tense for adjectives)
い-adj: drop い + かったです | な-adj + でしたSaying "it was tall" or "it was quiet" in polite Japanese. Our lesson on adjectives covers this alongside all four polite forms.
Drop the final い and add かったです:

| 高いです | 高かったです |
| 寒いです | 寒かったです |
| おいしいです | おいしかったです |
| 楽しいです | 楽しかったです |
いい becomes よかったです. Not いかったです.
A common mistake: adding でした to い-adjectives. 高いでした is wrong. The い itself conjugates.
Replace です with でした:
