Polite Past Negative Adjectives

Saying "it was not ~" politely. If you know the negative and past forms, this follows naturally. See the adjective conjugation guide for all forms in one place.

い-Adjectives

Drop the final い and add くなかったです:

いい: よくなかったです.

An alternative: くありませんでした. 高(たか)くありませんでした sounds more formal.

な-Adjectives

Add じゃありませんでした:

More formal: ではありませんでした.

昨日(きのう)は寒(さむ)くなかったです。
It wasn't cold yesterday.

テストはよくなかったです。
The test didn't go well.

あの映画(えいが)は面白(おもしろ)くなかったです。
That movie wasn't interesting.
