How to use Tatsu: grammar notes

•Use 立つ (たつ) when someone or something goes from sitting or lying down to standing up — for example, いすから立つ means "stand up from the chair."
•The person or thing doing the standing usually comes before the particle が — like in 子どもが立ちます (The child stands up).
•Don't confuse 立つ with 起きる (おきる); 立つ means "to stand up," while 起きる means "to wake up" or "get out of bed."
