How to use Tsuku: grammar notes

•点く (つく) is usually used with the particle が to show that something like a light or fire has turned on by itself — for example, 電気が点いた (The light turned on).
•Don’t confuse 点く (つく – to be turned on) with つける (to turn on); use 点く when something turns on, not when someone is doing the action.
•You’ll often hear 点く in the past tense 点いた (ついた) when talking about lights or appliances that turned on — like テレビが点いた (The TV turned on).
